Victoria Wakeman is a certified Childbirth Professionals International Preferred Birth and Postpartum Doula Trainer and Labor Support for Birth Professionals Educator. She continues to be a birth and postpartum doula, childbirth educator and peer lactation counselor as well.


Victoria has been a professional doula since 2002 when she started her own business, now Childbirth Support Specialists. She is a former Executive Director for a Pregnancy Help Center and is currently the Doula Program Coordinator at Brookings Health System, leading and educating a team of doulas in the program.


She enthusiastically works to spread warm and positive support and evidence-based education to families and her students in all aspects of pregnancy, labor and birth, breastfeeding and postpartum. She aims to contribute whole-heartedly to the childbirth support environment. Victoria believes in collaboration amongst childbirth professionals working together to give families the most positive, joyful, and peaceful birth experience possible. She recently co-wrote a bill on behalf of Medicaid Reimbursement for Doulas in the state of South Dakota that has led to her consulting in the creation of a Doula Program through the state’s Social Services Agency.


Victoria’s most cherished role is that of a wife and mother of nine children. She is honored every time she is invited by families to support them as a doula and invites families to reach out to her.


Victoria is also a Proud Member of South Dakota Doulas.
